Terminology Server Launch

In July 2022 the NHSScotland Terminology Server went live. This was the culmination of six months of hard work by the Programme team who worked closely with our partners at Dedalus Global to reach this milestone. The project to implement the Terminology Server included liaising with Procurement, Information Governance, and Information Security teams.

The NHSScotland Terminology Server is an enabler to implementing SNOMED CT across the NHSScotland digital estate. Its capabilities extend beyond SNOMED CT therefore it has the potential to derive value throughout NHSScotland.

The next steps for the Terminology Server are to provide some awareness and training sessions, explore potential use cases and look to establish the Terminology Server as a service offering to NHSScotland with a dedicated service management function.
